The main level features an open living room with gas fireplace with handsome white mantel, crown molding, and gleaming, walnut stained hardwood floors; chef’s kitchen with cherry cabinetry, granite countertops, and stainless appliances, including gas range; and dining space with glass slider to a private deck. Two generous bedrooms, each with corner exposure, and a well-appointed full bath with Jacuzzi tub w/tile surround, make up the second level. The apartment is very clean and the beds are comfortable. The neighborhood seems safe and it is quiet for sleeping.
The quirks: We paid for early check in and late check out. They did warn us that we would get several automated messages about the regular check in time and check out time and to ignore the messages. It got to be a little confusing for me! But we were able to check in on time. However, our door code stopped working earlier than our check out time. Thank goodness we had someone still inside to let us in!
Other quirks: We had some lights out and a toilet that was not doing it's job. Management responded to my first email about them but not my response. We avoided the toilet after we were not able to get it to work, there were two more in the home.
Even with the quirks, we would stay again. I loved the neighborhood and the home. :)
Response from Swank PropertiesThanks Marlene! Yes, the parking space, when available, is only appropriate for a compact car. We tried to talk you out of it but were ok with you seeing for yourself. The best option was the parking garage that is walkable from the house. And for a point of clarification, this unit is in the neighborhood of Charlestown in the City of Boston. Bunker Hill Monument, USS Constitution, walkable to the North End, etc. Glad you made memories!
The only downsides to the property were that it is located on a private drive with no parking available and the only view is the back of other houses, the TVs in 2 of the bedrooms weren't connected to cable and the clothes dryer didn't heat/dry very well.
The property is well furnished and spacious. We have no issues with 7 folks there.
Great communication with the property owners, pre- , during and post stay.

One suggestion. Potential renters who have difficulty with steps should select an alternative location.
Children’s Halloween parade around Bunker Hill was an unexpected bonus.
Response from Swank PropertiesThanks for the nice comments Anne! To clarify about steps, this house is a historic townhouse, so it is tall and narrow. So if you choose the Master Bedroom on the third Floor, there are many steps to take. However, there are beds on the 2nd Floor and also the fouton in the lower level. So there are options. But if stairs are difficult for you, let us know as we have units that provide elevators and no steps at all!
The bedrooms and living areas are well furnished. The house is in really good condition and very clean. The kitchen is well equipped to prepare meals, even though we just had take out food. The temperature in the house was easily regulated, they also had extra blankets in the closets. The bedrooms had nice storage capacity for clothes. The bathrooms were spacious and the showers had good water pressure (don’t forget to bring soap and shampoo)

Response from Swank PropertiesThanks Linda! And yes, this home is a 18th Century urban Boston townhouse, which would have seen the Battle of Bunker Hill. So there are lots of stairs and not for the physically challenged. We have other homes with elevators if that is the case in brand new buildings.

Response from Swank PropertiesA new hairdryer has been dropped off, as the previous one must have stowed away in someones luggage. Thank you for the review! As we mentioned to you, there is new furniture on order and new pictures will be taken soon after! All the new beds and mattresses are in... great quality and super comfortable. The livingroom sofa will be headed downstairs and a new sectional sofa will be presented in the livingroom. There won't be a TV in the basement, but there is a HDTV in the Master Suite and another in the Livingroom. We are considering adding another tv, but we are currently assessing if it will be used or just redundant. Happy to hear your thoughts!
