The property is a two-minute walk from a bus line that takes you to a subway station (Reservoir). We took two buses to get to Cambridge. It was a very easy commute.
Someone in a previous review expressed concern about safety based on the door lock. I didn’t find this to be an issue. I felt safe in the property and the community.
My only complaints were that the towels seemed to smell moldy/musty. I was glad that I had brought my own. Also, the futon (cover and mattress) in the front bedroom seemed soiled, we opted to not use it because of this, and the couch had an odor.
Please take a flashlight if you plan to use the washing machine/dryer (located in the basement) during your stay.
Checking in and out was easy.

Compliments also to the property managers, Swank. Very professional outfit. They have their own app which they make great use of. All access codes, password and check out details were provided.
When we arrived we discovered that the cleaner had not showed up. Dirty towels, sheets, etc. It was very easy to get to Swank after hours and they were able to rapidly organise clean sheets and towels. They also promptly refunded the cleaning deposit.
We've used VRBO/HomeAway frequently and for many years. Sometimes mistakes happen. Swank was able to manage our issue quickly and professionally.

As far as the kitchen and diningroom lights, yes indeed, they are on a dimmer switch. We will label that so it is cleared. There is a little slide button on the side of the switch to adjust. Regarding the front door lock, it is original to the house of 1920's vintage, so we provide a lock bar in case anyone gets nervous. But as West Roxbury is the safest neighborhood in Boston, there has never been an incident at this home since we have managed it beginning in 2002!
The property is very nice, clean and comfortable.
