First time I use Home away and I reslly like it!! Only problem, no washer and dryer, and no change of sheets, we stayed two weeks and I asked for clean sheets and towels, they charge $25.00, we pay for laundry, why not provide clean sheets and towels at least evey week if you stay more than 1 week for free?

We would love to provide an in-residence cleaning for free, but in order to keep prices down for everyone, we do have to charge a nominal amount for linen service for during a stay. Guests staying in units without a washer dryer do get linen service at no charge when staying for monthly stays. And we are always ready and happy to do more often, for the minimal fee. Thanks again for staying with us!

Charming apartment, with good amenities. Just as described. Its on the 3rd floor, so stairs may be difficult for some. A busy street, so a little noisy, but close to subways, coffee shop, restaurants, grocery. Property well maintained. Had a little difficulty getting internet connections, and therefore controlling the temperature, but property management was very responsive to emails, and fixed the heating right away. Wifi was also available at the coffee shop a block away. Loved the 224 Boston St restaurant next door, and the Dorchester Brewing around the corner. They have a caterer/food trucks each night to get dinner along with craft beers. It looks to be in a neighborhood being regenerated. Felt safe walking to the JFK/Umass subway station (13 mins). Only 3 stops from the major subway hub downtown. Would definitely recommend and visit here again.

We had a great stay at the Mayhew apartment. It was clean, airy, and had everything we needed to be comfortable for our 4 night stay. Very roomy, and with so much charm in the old wooden floors and ornate knobs and light fixtures. We used public transportation all week and didn't rent a car and it worked out perfectly for us. There is a bus stop right outside the front door, and 2 T stations within a 10 minute walking distance. There is also a Target about 10 mins away, which was handy. The property managers were quick to respond to all our needs. The building was quiet, and there was some noise on the street below but this wasn't bothersome to us at all and didn't hinder us getting a good night's sleep. It is on the 3rd floor and no elevator access, which was fine for us but would understandably deter others. We would definitely stay here again if we return to the area!

Great value. Good location. Lots of street noise, but I'm not used to being in a city. Ear plugs took care of that. The mattresses are extremely firm, but I prefer firm over soft, so that was no problem. Internet worked easily and was fast. TV allowed us to catch some of the Cowboys game. Overall, I'd recommend it.

My only bad experience was getting our car towed the first morning there. Eine echte Überraschung, der einwandfreie Zustand mit viel Holz, schöner Einrichtung und alles sauber und gemütlich. Wenn man die sehr fortschrittliche Anmeldung etc. über App überstanden hat. Für fortgeschrittene Semester etwas schwierig.
Die Kücheneinrichtung wirkt nicht ganz so neu wie der Rest der Wohnung und auch nicht ganz so vollständig. Das könnte daran liegen, dass keine persönliche Übergabe erfolgt. Die Lage des Hauses ist etwas abseits, zwar mit der U-Bahn sehr gut erreichbar (Fußweg ca. 10 min), aber man läuft nicht unbedingt durch die beste Gegend. Abends bzw. bei Dunkelheit sind wir lieber zusammen geblieben, obwohl wir die vier Tage nie unangenehme oder verdächtige Begegnungen hatten. Trotzdem hat die Qualität der Einrichtung das mehr als wettgemacht.

We really enjoyed our stay at 230 Boston Street. The apartment is lovely and gave us plenty of room for the 5 of us. The "T" into Boston is only a few blocks away and so is the Stop and Shop grocery. I found the phone app somewhat cumbersome and thought it would have been nice if a general map of the area with the "T" stop, grocery, restaurants had been included in the apartment. Otherwise a great place to stay in Boston with FREE street parking - always a plus!

My fiancee and I planned a weekend in Boston for his 30th birthday. We had originally planned for about 5-6 people, but it ended up just being the 2 of us. We were very pleasantly surprised with the property (you never know what you're going to get with internet photos!). The property is a big house that is split into 4 units. The whole house is secure, only tenants can use a key to get in, and then each individual unit can also be locked. Our unit had 2 full bedrooms and a smaller room with a fold out bed. The house was clean and the furnishings were very nice. It definately had that historic charm kind of feel =)

Parking was conveniently located across the street. However, the week we went they had part of the street shut down due to construction.... So we had to park 2 blocks away, big whoop!

Downtown Boston is really close, we took a taxi to & from the city for about $10-15 each way (did't want to risk drinking & driving!!), public transportation is also very close.

Overall, we had an amazing time. We would recommend this property to everyone!

This appartment is located 30 minutes from downtown Boston (15 minutes walk + 15 minutes T train). It is a good start point to visit this beautifull city.

The beds were very comfortable. The appartment was well furnished and squeaky-clean. The rental price was fair.

When we arrived, the key box code that was sent to us was not working. Fortunately, Shawn, the manager came quickly to fix the problem.

We also found 3 window shades on the dining table. We had to replace them by ourself.
We would have like to find few spare blankets, and newer pots and pans.

In general, we are very satisfied of our stay.

Apartment is very nice. Old wood floors and updated doors, moldings, paint and appliances. The bed in the second bedroom is a double (not a queen). Quite close to bus stop, and about a 15-20 minute walk to the T. Getting into downtown Boston was easy and quick.

We were there during hurricane Sandy, and were forced to stay inside one day because all public transportation was shut down. Despite the storm the house was snug and dry (but for one leak in a window that stopped when the rain stopped).

When we got there one of the window blinds was on the floor and the bathtub was full of water. After we drained the tub it appeared not to have been cleaned (dirt and a few hairs remained). Management responded very quickly, however, which was nice. There were plenty of towels and blankets.

It's right next door to a wonderful restaurant/bar. Free parking on the curb was handy. Decent neighborhood, too. We felt safe walking to and from the subway.

Because of the weather we were given a free late checkout, but didn't need it after all. Overall, a very nice stay, hurricane and all!

Location is generally good, close to JFK station, but some industrial zones nearby; Parking: it is a little bit annoying to follow the limits for the street parking, but, with some effort, it is still possible quite easily park on the streets nearby

Our stay lasted 7 days, from the Sunday before Labor Day to the next Sunday; and with the exception of a couple of frustrations, the stay was enjoyable. First frustration was trying to obtain entry. We spent 15 minutes trying to get past the front door. The emailed directions are very confusing and poorly written. Once we were upstairs, there was no air conditioning. In fact, during this unusually warm Boston weather, we had no air conditioning Sunday or Labor Day Monday. The apartment was exceptionally clean and very well provided! It has a very homey and relaxed feeling about it. One suggestion...a clock! Just a inexpensive, battery-operated wall clock in the front area could make a big difference. Love the Dorchester area and I had easy access to the Boston sights by the MTBA. I would definitely stay there again.
PS- Had a great time at the restaurant, 224, right next door!

Nous sommes satisfaits. Une fois comprise la démarche pour accèder aux clefs, les lieux s'avèrent très adéquats: en face du bus,à 5 minutes de marche du métro, 10 de l'épicerie, un bon restaurant de quartier à côté. Outre les pôeles et chaudrons usés, et le fait de devoir marcher 2 minutes pour la buanderie, le tout nous a pleinement convenu (2 adultes, 2 adolescents et 2 enfants en bas âge). Ceci dit, il importe de planifier ses déplacements dans Boston (un quartier par jour, 5 jours) afin de se déplacer en métro. L'usage de la voiture est à proscrire en raison du traffic. Le parking près de la résidence est parfois difficile mais 5 minutes suffisent pour se garer à proximité. L'achat d'un billet hebdomadaire de transport en commun est donc la solution.

Neighbourhood is quiet...almost too quiet with relatively few places to eat and shop. We stayed in Mayhew apartment for 4 nights in June, 2012. In general, the apartment is very nice and the furniture is of good quality. It's very spacious, so there is more than enough place for 4 persons. The location was fine. We used the red line of the subway to get to the city center. It takes about 15 min to get to the JFK station and then 3-4 stations ride to the center. As an alternative we sometimes used taxi (app.12-15 dollars to the center). The big grocery store was quite far from the apartment - 20 - 25 min walk, but it was ok for us. What we didn't like was that the climate controle system was set up on too low temperature and it was not possible to change the settings. Besides, the owner was unreacheable: we messaged him and called him once - he never replied. The check-out instructions were not that clear. Also, it was said that we had to clean the apartment before we leave, take all the dirty sheets and towels to the laundry box, take out the garbage (where - was not clear). We were on vacation and it was a bit annoying to finish the trip by making that cleaning, especially as it was mentioned that right after our check-out the cleaning team will come. I wonder what their responsibilities are...
